Not Allowed to Read the Hunger Games?

So today when I was at Barnes and Noble trying to pick out which 2 books I should read for my Summer Reading Challenge, I decided one of the books I was going to read is the Hunger Games. Little did I know my Mom was going to keep me from reading the book because it was 'Disgusting', 'Horrific', 'Bad Example for Kids', and 'Taught children that it was okay to kill each other over food and then sometimes end up eating each other'. My mom hasn't even read the book, and she judging it by its description and reviews from others, how judgmental! Now, I can't counter-argue with this, because I've never read the book before or seen the movie, but why you hating on a book you ain't read? I am going to find a way to read this book though, even if it means sneaking it into the house.

I've also started a new book it's called Dear Bully and its composed of 70+ different authors stories of their experiences of being the victim of a bully or being bully. I can give it a T2S  (Text to Self) because, I've been bullied before. And sometimes, I still am. Almost everyone has experienced a type of bullying. One part in Dear Bully really affects me. Here it is.

My self-worth is not linked to your cruel words and actions

My self-esteem is not affected by your deliberate attempts to destroy my character

You have no power over me

You will not silence me

These words are not constructed of ink and paper. They are not formed of movement and sound. They are echoes of my soul. May they  ripple outward and give strength to those who hear them.

These words really touched me, and gave me the strength to ignore what the bullies do to me, because I have more power than them. They are only self-hating people, who decide to take out their frustrations on what seems the weaker man.
Anyways, that's my blog for this week. I hope you enjoyed it and maybe you will see about reading Dear Bully.  Have a great week, and a great summer!
