The Hunger Games
So, this week I read  most of the Hunger Games. And I honestly didn't think I would like it. At first I didn't wanna read it because I didn't wanna be part of the fanatics over this book. To me, the way some people described it, it just didn't sound like my type of book. But, I read it anyway just to see what everyone thought was so ahmazzziinnngggg about it. Now, I see, why it was so loved by so many others.
One thing I loved about The Hunger Games was the characters and the details. Some parts were very descriptive and vivid, but others were not as detailed and left your imagination to come up with your own vision of what ever it was/is. And the characters were just so unique to me. They weren't like other characters in the books I've read. They each possessed their own problems they had to solve. And I really liked that.
Not only have I learned one thing, but I've learned 2.

  •  The Hunger Games was AHMAZIIINGGGG and I have no idea why I doubted it
  • I would never, NEVER EVER survive the Hunger Games. I wouldn't.
So I really hope you enjoyed this weeks blog. I don't know, maybe next weeks will be about Catching Fire, the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy. I dunno. Alright,  will see, well blog, you next week!

PALINDROMANIA!

WOW!
This book is, awkwardly enough, funny. Though it is a dry humor, there are some funny things in it. As I read through this, I realized that it was no where near my level of reading or near any type of book I usually read. I think I said in one of my previous blogs that I love, YA books, horror, scary, mystery, crime books. If not, well that sentence should tell what type of book I like to read. I also occasionally read a humorous book as I'm reading one now called Dark Lord. Extremely hilarious. But lets get back to Palindromania.
The book is like a classic comic book, just with lots of different comics made out of palindromes.
Palindrome -- a wordlineverse, number, sentence, etc., reading the same backward as forward, as Madam, I'm Adam  or Poor Dan is in a droop.
Overall, I did not thoroughly enjoy the book. But since I was the one who chose to read it, I stuck with it and read it all the way through. But that's just my opinion.
Alrighty,  have a good week everyone!

Not Allowed to Read the Hunger Games?

So today when I was at Barnes and Noble trying to pick out which 2 books I should read for my Summer Reading Challenge, I decided one of the books I was going to read is the Hunger Games. Little did I know my Mom was going to keep me from reading the book because it was 'Disgusting', 'Horrific', 'Bad Example for Kids', and 'Taught children that it was okay to kill each other over food and then sometimes end up eating each other'. My mom hasn't even read the book, and she judging it by its description and reviews from others, how judgmental! Now, I can't counter-argue with this, because I've never read the book before or seen the movie, but why you hating on a book you ain't read? I am going to find a way to read this book though, even if it means sneaking it into the house.

I've also started a new book it's called Dear Bully and its composed of 70+ different authors stories of their experiences of being the victim of a bully or being bully. I can give it a T2S  (Text to Self) because, I've been bullied before. And sometimes, I still am. Almost everyone has experienced a type of bullying. One part in Dear Bully really affects me. Here it is.

My self-worth is not linked to your cruel words and actions

My self-esteem is not affected by your deliberate attempts to destroy my character

You have no power over me

You will not silence me

These words are not constructed of ink and paper. They are not formed of movement and sound. They are echoes of my soul. May they  ripple outward and give strength to those who hear them.

These words really touched me, and gave me the strength to ignore what the bullies do to me, because I have more power than them. They are only self-hating people, who decide to take out their frustrations on what seems the weaker man.
Anyways, that's my blog for this week. I hope you enjoyed it and maybe you will see about reading Dear Bully.  Have a great week, and a great summer!

OH no!!! OH NO OH NO OH NO!!!! I'm SOOOO sorry I forgot to post yesterday everyone!! Had a party with the fam and then played X-Box with fam. Busy busy day yesterday. Ok, lets get to the point of this weeks/last weeks? blog..How To Tell I'm Reading a Really Good Book.

  • When I'm not sketching at least 3 times a day
  • When I haven't played at least one hour of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare  3
  • When I don't practice softball for at least 2 hours a day
  • When I refuse to eat dinner until I finish reading the chapter (and then continue to read after I finish the chapter)
  • When I have lemonade beside me, my notepad and my favorite pencil and I'm stopping every so often to take notes on the book ( Possibly for a future blog ;) )
  • When my mom continuously has to yell at me to get up off my butt and do my homework or chores
  • And, when I will stay up all night and possibly fall asleep reading the book, not because it was boring, but because I was reading it for so long!
There you have it, so if you ever decide to stalk me and notice I'm just sitting there reading a book all day, I hope you will become so bored that you decide to never stalk me again. Haha, really tho, please don't stalk me. :) Anyways, that's how you can tell I'm reading a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious book. Well, I have to go now. Ta-Ta all. I promise I wont forget my blog post on Sunday!

FIREPROOF

Never Leave your Partner Behind

Okay, so this is my second post on IRead Weekly and since I'm doing a summer reading challenge ( 6 blog posts, -read- 3 books ) I decided I would go ahead and post my blog about my challenge book, Fireproof. Lemme tell ya, if you've read Courageous or seen the movie Courageous, you will absolutely L-O-V-E this book! <3 I haven't seen the movie Fireproof yet, but I will. I promise I will.
Okay, lets get back on topic here. Fireproof is a challenge book to me because it holds certain scenarios in it that I have not yet encountered in life. Fireproof is more for adults ( It does not have any bad things in it I assure you :) ) because it deals with marriage difficulties and multiple religious  difficulties and beliefs also. It also had many, but not TOO many, hard words for me that I ended up needing to break out the dictionary to look up.
Overall, I picked up this book and COULD NOT, I repeat COULD NOT put it down, except for when my mom had to yell at me to get up and do the dishes or my homework :P . I'm always into Young Adult, Post apocalyptic, scary, religious books. Some on my level, some above my level.  Fireproof blew me away. It has to be one of the best challenge books I've read yet.

ASHFALL

Alright here it is. My first blog post on IRead Weekly. This first blog is all about a review on Mike Mullin's first book ASHFALL.  So here goes it :)

Today's talk in schools and book clubs all over America is about The Hunger Games, right? The book even got its own movie, too! Lemme tell you though, if you think the Hunger Games series is good, you'll think ASHFALL is G-R-E-A-T!! It's a page-turning adventure all through the book! With surprises when you least expect them! It's the perfect blend of a post apocalyptic, romance, and suspense story. Its got everything you could possibly want in a book. Readers beware though, the book has some very gory scenes. And as far as 1 to 5 stars go, I give it 6! Mike Mullin is creating a sequel to ASHFALL called Ashen Winter. You can read the first 2 chapters of Ashen Winter on Mikmullinauthor.com, I assure you it's just a suspenseful as ASHFALL, even though I've read only 2 chapters. Anyway,  ASHFALL would be a great summer read for any teen looking for a book like the Hunger Games!
